We got a certificate from Restaurant.com for El Rodeo. I would have never tried them, except for that benefit. I would have missed out on a wonderful experience! We were seated immediately in the expansive restaurant. The booths were comfortable and roomy. The decor is classy and the color scheme is attractive. Our waitress was attentive and accommodating. When we were seated, our waitress brought out complimentary chips and delicious tomato based salsa. I requested something hotter and asked for salsa verde. Both salsas were delicious. I ordered camarones ala diabla (hot). My husband ordered shredded beef burrito. Both of our entrees were very generous, size wise. My husband's burrito came out on a large rectangle plate. The meat in the burrito was the star. The shredded beef was flavorful, tender and delicious. My shrimp came out on a pretty square plate and were PERFECTLY done, with a sauce to die for! I kind of feel like I have never had shrimp before this meal!! It has this rich tomato based sauce with sauteed onions and frsh mushrooms. My husband and I have been missing out on a fabulous restaurant for some time now. We will MOST certainly return.

Fast and friendly service. We had fresh salsa and fried tortilla chips and they brought another basket as soon as we finished the first. Sat outside and enjoyed the smell of the grill. Very fresh ingredients. Had the seafood chimichanga with rice and beans. The beans had melted cheese on the top and the guacamole came with it. I would order it again large portions so come hungry.

Originally came here when the restaurant was called Tres Compadres and enjoyed it then. Came here on a Friday evening with my family to see if a new name and management changed anything. The place was nearly empty which was surprising. We ordered grilled cheese sandwiches for my young children and my husband and I shared a beef & chicken fajita. My husband got margaritas which tasted more premixed than anything. The waitress accidentally brought a chicken sandwich (which was raw) for the kids and our fajita meat was heavily burnt. The fajitas only came with 3 flour tortilla shells which was hardly enough. Overall the food was terrible and left an awful burned meat aftertaste. The atmosphere was the only redeeming thing for El Rodeo. It is unbelievable that they won best Mexican restaurant according to trip advisor as Manny's and tequilas are better by far.

Came on a tuesday.place was empty except for two other tables.thought that might be a bad sign.but for Midwest mexican food it was good.food was hot.it was decent and I'm very biased when it comes to mexican food being from the southwest.id give it a chance if your in lacrosse.i had enchiladas, not bad..

Waiter was a "friendly amigo", salsa was good, cheese dip tasted watered down, fajitas typical for semi authentic Mexican. Decent food overall, but average -solid 3 star

I'm not usually the type that goes gaga for Mexican food, so I silently grumbled a bit when my spouse suggested eating there last night, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. My fiesta lime chicken was full of flavor -- delicious, even -- and the couple bites I had of my husband's dish were also tasty. Good portion sizes, and he said the margaritas hit the spot. The staff was friendly also. Bye-bye, bland burritos!

I went here for dinner with my family. The food was good, but the service was just okay. We were served promptly, but then pretty much forgotten about. The food came quickly, but my order was incorrect (they had used chicken rather than beef). Not one to make a scene I went along with it. However, given that we were the only people in the place, I think it speaks to inattention by the waitress, which characterized our experience. I'm willing to go here again, but it isn't my first choice.

This is easily the best Mexican Restaurant in La Crosse. I have been here at least a half dozen times and the food and service is consistently excellent. They also have a good selection of Mexican beers and a huge menu.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
